Nick Viall Opens Up About Reliving His Failed Proposal on 'The Bachelorette'

Nick Viall is looking back on a sad time in his life.

The 39-year-old reality star took to Instagram on Sunday (June 14) to look back on his failed proposal to Kaitlyn Bristowe before it re-airs during The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever! the following night.

“It was like waving at someone who’s waving at the person behind … but million times worse,” Nick wrote. “TBH I look back on this time of my life and have nothing but positive memories. I just didn’t think ABC would make us relive the entire failed proposal tomorrow night..It really was a season for the ages. You never know how you view things as time passes. Glad to be able to call KB a good friend!”

Back on Kaitlyn‘s season of The Bachelorette in 2015, Nick made it to the final rose ceremony and asked her to marry him. Kaitlyn rejected Nick‘s proposal, and ended up choosing Shawn Booth. They ended up breaking up a few years later.

New episodes of The Bachelor: The Greatest Seasons – Ever! air on Monday nights at 8pm ET on ABC.

“I did want to tell you guys a story, a story about the first time I was arrested. By first, I mean only time. I was detained. It was about 10 years ago. I was still living in Milwaukee. I went out to the bars with my best friend and my girlfriend at the time and his girlfriend at the time, now wife,” he said.

“This cop comes up to me and goes, ‘Get out of here!’ Starts screaming at me, cussing. I’m like, ‘Yeah, no problem, man. Just gonna grab my friend and I’ll be out of here.’ And then for whatever reason…he just did a beeline over to me and said, ‘You’re under arrest,’” he went on to explain, saying he was “thrown” into a police van with “one other white kid and a bunch of black young men.”

Thanks to his girlfriend and another officer, he was let off: “Thankfully, he went and found the arresting officer and convinced him to let me go.”

Nick said he’ll “never forget” what the arresting officer said to him next: “We shouldn’t be arresting people like you.”

“It was so clear to me at the time that what he meant was because I’m white, and it was so obvious. And he said it to me in a way, and I remember being, like, so offended by him saying that, because he said it to me as if I would acknowledge what he said, being like, ‘Yeah, why are you arresting me?’ Like I would agree with him.”

“It was just such an eye-opening moment. Like, holy s–t, this stuff still goes on. There’s no doubt in my mind that the only reason I was let off that night was because I was white,” he said.

Nick Viall Slams Hannah Brown's Apology Over Using Derogatory Term

Former The Bachelor star Nick Viall is slamming The Bachelorette‘s Hannah Brown for her apology over using a derogatory term during an Instagram Live.

“Listen, Hannah Brown has a massive platform. She has been very outspoken about her desire to be a role model specifically to young women out there. She has talked about it a lot. ‘When I was a young girl, this. When I was a young girl, that.’ And quite frankly, her going on Instagram Live—whether she was inebriated or not—and using that word in any context whatsoever is not being a role model,” Nick said on his podcast (via E! News). “Certainly not a good one. And she has to be held to a high standard. We all do. And it is very disappointing to see. Honestly, her initial response was disappointing.”

Nick continued, “She has since posted a written apology on her Instagram Stories that is set to expire. As Rachel said on her Instagram Live, that doesn’t read as sincere. We don’t know whether that came from her heart or if it came from her publicist,” he shared. “The only authentic reaction right now, as it stands as this Monday morning, is what she just said on her Instagram Live. Frankly, that’s a really, really terrible apology and really insincere and it comes across as, again, ignorant to what she’s speaking on.”

Hannah used the word while singing DaBaby‘s song “Rockstar.” Find out what her ex Tyler Cameron thinks of the controversy.

'Bachelor' Nick Viall Slams Madison Prewett, Calls Her a 'Liar'

Nick Viall is calling out Madison Prewett.

The 39-year-old The Bachelor alum called out the 24-year-old Bachelor contestant on the latest episode of his podcast, The Viall Files.

During the episode, Nick defended fellow Bachelor Peter Weber for his recent clap-back against Madison for her remarks about him reuniting with contestant Kelley Flanagan.

“Here’s what we know: Peter might be a lot of things. He might have been sloppy, you could have argued that maybe he’s got some maturing to do, he’s certainly indecisive, but what Peter has also been is honest, even to a fault, almost,” Nick said on the podcast.

“He’s been so honest that he’s probably gotten himself into more trouble than he needed to, where other leads have been a little bit more measured and made decisions a little bit more based off of what the audience might think, and Peter truly hasn’t done that. We also know Madison to be a little bit of a liar,” he went on to say.

“It’s true! I mean, people want to forget — I know Madison wants to forget it, but her Instagram. She commented on her own Instagram. It’s a fact she did that.”

Nick was referring to fans accusing Madison of creating a fake account to compliment herself while the season aired, which she maintains was a friend logged into her profile.

“It is silly and trivial, and there’s a logical explanation for it, that she wanted people to like her. It’s a totally relatable thing. I know Madison thinks I don’t like her and I know people think I’ve been hard on Madison. I think she’s just fine. I’ve even defended Madison. But if you’re going to be righteous, and you’re going to be pious, and you’re going to talk about your relationship with God and how you want to be an example to young women, blah, blah, blah, then I hold you to a higher standard. And so don’t be a liar. Don’t be vain. I’m vain, I can be vain,” he said.

“My point is that Madison is very smart and very calculated. It’s not an accident she did a TikTok with all the other girls … and I have no problem with that. I’m not beyond doing s–t like that, I’m just saying, it’s a little bit of hypocrisy. Her brand is God and righteousness and being the true follower of Christ.”
