James Bond Movie 'No Time to Die' Is Being Released A Few Days Earlier Now

The movie No Time to Die, the latest film in the James Bond franchise, will be hitting theaters five days earlier than previously announced.

The film, which is Daniel Craig‘s final movie as James Bond, was originally going to be released on April 10, but the studio pushed back the release due to the pandemic.

The rescheduled release date was set as November 25 in the United States, but now the film will be released on November 20 instead.

U.K. fans will still get to see the film on November 10.

Lots of movies have been pushed around the theatrical release calendar in recent weeks. The latest moves include Tenet going two weeks later to July 31 and Wonder Woman 1984 moving from August to October.

James Bond Studio Is Losing a Lot of Money by Switching Release Dates Amid Coronavirus Fears

MGM, the film studio behind the James Bond franchise and the upcoming movie No Time to Die, is set to lose around $30 million to $50 million over the decision to delay the film’s release.

No Time to Die was supposed to hit theaters in April, but has been pushed back to November amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

THR is now reporting that the studio is going to lose the big amount of money, but they might have lost even more money if they released the movie in April as planned. The outlet estimates that 30 percent of the box office gross may have been lost by releasing the movie in April. With experts predicting that the movie will gross $1 billion worldwide, that means the movie would have lost around $300 million by hitting theaters on the original date.

It’s also being reported that a marketing campaign for a movie that is released in the fall is more costly due to more expensive commercials slots because of the holiday season.

There have been many reports that the Coronavirus outbreak could go away over the summer, but come back in the fall when the weather cools down again. If that does actually happen, MGM may be in a similar situation when November rolls around.

No Time to Die is Daniel Craig‘s final movie as James Bond and it’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

'No Time to Die' Release Date Pushed Back 7 Months

The release date for No Time to Die, the newest James Bond movie, has been moved back by seven months from April 2020 to November 2020.

“MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time to Die will be postponed until November 2020. The film will be released in the U.K. on November 12, 2020 with worldwide release dates to follow, including the U.S. launch on November 25, 2020,” a statement from the studio said (via Deadline).

As for why this move is being made, Deadline added that “This is purely an economic decision we understand, and not one based on growing fears over the coronavirus.” Movie theaters have been closing in China, Korea, Japan, Italy and France.

The final Daniel Craig-led film was supposed to hit theaters on April 2 in the UK and April 10 in the US.

The decision was made because 70,000 theaters in the country have been closed already in an effort to suppress the spreading disease, for which the death toll now exceeds 1,600 people.

The movie is still set to hit theaters in North America on April 10, and in the UK and select international territories on April 2.

This iconic location also shut down in China amid concerns of spreading the disease.

Daniel Craig Fires Back at Reporter Who Suggest Phoebe Waller-Bridge Was a Diversity Hire for 'Bond' Movie

Daniel Craig isn’t here for the assertion that Phoebe Waller-Bridge landed a writing job on the new James Bond movie simply because of her gender.

The 51-year-old actor fired back at a reporter who seemingly insinuated that Phoebe was hired for the upcoming film No Time to Die as a diversity hire.

“Look, we’re having a conversation about Phoebe’s gender here, which is f–king ridiculous. She’s a great writer. Why shouldn’t we get Phoebe onto Bond?” Daniel told The Sunday Times.

“She’s just brilliant. I had my eye on her ever since the first Fleabag, and then I saw Killing Eve and what she did with that and just wanted her voice,” he added. “It is so unique — we are very privileged to have her on board.”

Daniel says that Phoebe‘s hiring was not because of the #MeToo era, in which studios are working on hiring more women.

“I know where you’re going but I don’t actually want to have that conversation,” he said in the interview. “I know what you’re trying to do but it’s wrong. It’s absolutely wrong. She’s a f–king great writer. One of the best English writers around. I said, ‘Can we get her on the film?’ That’s where I came from.”
