#AmyCovidBarrett Is Trending on Twitter - Find Out Why

Amy Coney Barrett is trending on Twitter.

The 48-year-old newly appointed Supreme Court Justice made headlines after making the decisive vote in a decision that greatly affects New York amid the pandemic.

The court voted 5-4 to restrict New York state from reimposing limits on religious gatherings on Wednesday (November 25) in an emergency ruling, with the decisive vote cast by Justice Barrett.

“Stemming the spread of COVID–19 is unquestionably a compelling interest, but it is hard to see how the challenged regulations can be regarded as ‘narrowly tailored.’ They are far more restrictive than any COVID–related regulations that have previously come before the Court, much tighter than those adopted by many other jurisdictions hard-hit by the pandemic, and far more severe than has been shown to be required to prevent the spread of the virus at the applicants’ services,” the court ultimately decided.

She did not write a separate opinion in the two New York cases, but backed the majority vote for the opinion.

The four remaining Democratic appointees dissented, stressing that the emergency relief wasn’t necessary because Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently reclassified the areas in question in a color-coded system from “orange” to “yellow,” lifting the most onerous restrictions, according to Politico.

Following the news, #AmyCovidBarrett began to trend on Twitter and has continued to all day, with many users weighing in with their dismay at the decision.

“So essentially SCOTUS ruled against what’s happening in the best interest of the state, and by extension, the public interest. Sure, let the religious zealots dictate what’s best. Nice work, #AmyCovidBarrett. Let’s hope Biden expands the Court. It is time,” wrote one user.

“Every health care worker in the United States should threaten to strike if their state government doesn’t mandate the most basic Covid protections – like masks and crowd control. For the love of God, they aren’t United States Marines. This is ******** insane. #AmyCovidBarrett,” wrote another.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus & Cast of 'Veep' to Reunite for a Table Read - Find Out Why!

The Veep cast is reuniting!

The cast of the Julia Louis-Dreyfus-led comedy will reunite for a virtual table read in order to help get out the vote for the Georgia runoff elections in January, they announced in a statement Tuesday (November 24).

Stars Anna Chlumsky, Reid Scott, Sam Richardson, Tony Hale, Timothy Simons, Clea DuVall, Matt Walsh, Gary Cole and Sarah Sutherland are set to join, with showrunner and executive producer David Mandel also participating in the reunion.

“The cast of Veep had so much fun coming together during the election that we were looking for something else to do,” they joked in the announcement.

“Luckily, there are two runoff elections in Georgia so we decided to get together again and bring some friends. And if this goes well, we are hoping for a second runoff, maybe in March.”

They will be doing a virtual table read of the Emmy Award-winning episode “Mother,” which also played out similarly to this year’s presidential election.

“2020 won’t stop ripping off VEEP, so we had to do something about it,” Julia said on her Instagram.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was also the host of the fourth and final night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention and she made some digs at President Trump while moderating the evening. Find out what she said!

Joe Biden Will Begin Formal Transition Process To President After GSA's Letter & Re-Winning Key States

Joe Biden has been given the all clear to start the formal transition process for his presidency, according to CBS News.

The General Services Administration, also known as the GSA, has sent a letter to the President-elect informing him that access to key funding, office space, classified intelligence briefings and agency access is now in play.

This afternoon, Mr. Biden‘s win in Michigan was re-certified after a recount. Pennsylvania will have a certified winner later tonight.

Just after the GSA alerted Mr. Biden, President Trump tweeted that he has recommended the GSA administrator “do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and I have told my team to do the same.”

“Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good…fight, and I believe we will prevail!” he insisted though, regarding his fight to recount many of the votes in the election that went to Mr. Biden over him.

Over the weekend, Twitter confirmed that despite Trump not conceding the election, the POTUS account would transfer over to Biden in January.

If you missed it, Trump first spoke out just a few weeks ago after Biden had won the election. Here’s what he said…

Edward Norton Calls Out Trump in Viral Twitter Thread: 'Call His Bluff'

Edward Norton is putting President Donald Trump on blast.

The 51-year-old Fight Club star spoke out against the President of the United States, who continues to refuse to concede to Joe Biden and try to baselessly undermine the results of the 2020 presidential election, in a series of tweets on Friday (November 20).

“I’m no political pundit but I grew up w a dad who was a federal prosecutor & he taught me a lot & I’ve also sat a fair amount of poker w serious players & l’ll say this: I do not think Trump is trying to ‘make his base happy’ or ‘laying the groundwork for his own network’,” he wrote.

“…or that ‘chaos is what he loves’. The core of it is that he knows he’s in deep, multi-dimensional legal jeopardy & this defines his every action. We’re seeing 1) a tactical delay of the transition to buy time for coverup & evidence suppression 2) above all, a desperate endgame,” he continued.

“which is to create enough chaos & anxiety about peaceful transfer of power, & fear of irreparable damage to the system, that he can cut a Nixon-style deal in exchange for finally conceding. But he doesn’t have the cards. His bluff after ‘the flop’ has been called in court…his ‘turn card’ bluff will be an escalation & his ‘River card’ bluff could be really ugly. But they have to be called. We cannot let this mobster bully the USA into a deal to save his ass by threatening our democracy. THAT is his play. But he’s got junk in his hand. So call him.”

” will allow that he’s also a whiny, sulky, petulant, Grinchy, vindictive little 10-ply-super-soft bitch who no doubt is just throwing a wicked pout fest & trying to give a tiny-hand middle finger to the whole country for pure spite, without a single thought for the dead & dying. But his contemptible, treasonous, seditious assault on the stability of our political compact isn’t about 2024, personal enrichment or anything else other than trying to use chaos & threat to the foundation of the system as leverage to trade for a safe exit. Call. His. Bluff. Faith in the strength of our sacred institutions & founding principles is severely stretched…but they will hold. They will. He’s leaving, gracelessly & in infamy. But if we trade for it, give him some brokered settlement, we’ll be vulnerable to his return. We can’t flinch.”

If you missed it, Trump‘s top lawyer Rudy Giuliani made headlines for his bizarre appearance during a press conference full of allegations that was not aired by most news stations.

Florida Senator Rick Scott Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Rick Scott has coronavirus.

The 67-year-old Republican Florida Senator revealed on Friday (November 20) in a statement that he has tested positive amid the pandemic, about a week after he began to self-quarantine.

“After several negative tests, I learned I was positive for COVID-19 this AM. I’m feeling good & experiencing very mild symptoms. I’ll be working from home until it’s safe for me to return to DC. I remind everyone to be careful & do the right things to protect yourselves & others,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Wear a mask. Socially distance. Quarantine if you come in contact with someone positive like I did. We will beat this together, but we all must be responsible. I want to thank all the incredible health care workers who are working around the clock to care for patients.”

The news comes as more lawmakers reveal positive test results, including 87-year-old Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. Rick Scott is the seventh known Senator to test positive for coronavirus.

He announced earlier in the week that he was going to self-quarantine after being exposed to an individual in Florida who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The CDC has put out an urgent statement for Americans ahead of Thanksgiving.

Kurt Russell Believes Actors Should 'Step Away from Saying Anything' Political

Kurt Russell is talking about politics in Hollywood.

During a new interview, the 69-year-old actor says he thinks that actors should stay out of politics.

“I’ve always been someone who felt we are court jesters. That’s what we do,” Kurt shared with The New York Times.

“As far as I’m concerned, you should step away from saying anything so that you can still be seen by the audience in any character,” Kurt added.

Kurt did mention that there’s “no reason entertainers can’t learn just as much as anybody else about a subject, whatever it is.”

“But I think that what’s sad about it is that they lose their status as a court jester,” Kurt admitted. “And I’m a court jester. That’s what I was born to do.”

Kurt‘s longtime love Goldie Hawn was also part of the interview, and to her, she feels that celebrities voicing their political opinions is a “personal choice.”

If you didn’t know, all of these celebrities have run for political office over the years.
