Beauty and the Beast‘s 30th anniversary will be celebrated tonight on ABC with a live-action special starring H.E.R. as Belle and Josh Groban as The Beast!
The star-studded production, which was pre-recorded, will feature a blend of animated footage and live-action performances to pay tribute to the original Disney movie.
The never-before-seen musical performances will feature brand-new sets and breathtaking costumes inspired by the classic story.
The special airs TONIGHT (December 15) at 8pm EST on ABC and will be available for streaming the next day on Disney+.

“I love when there are celebrations of work we’ve had for a long time,” Josh shared with ABC News about bringing the classic animated story to life. “We have a real reason with the 30th.”
He added, “I was 10 years old and I speak for everyone in the cast we’ve loved this since we were kids and we feel very excited to be part of this ambitious, fun celebration of something we all love and hopefully people watching will love it as well.”
H.E.R. added, “I think I’m staying true to who Belle was and I think I’m bringing it out more. She had such a strength and a bravery about her and I really want people to see that in this version.”
The Wonderful World of Disney and ABC presents Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration will air TONIGHT, Thursday, December 15, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

ABC’s upcoming Beauty and The Beast special will be airing in a couple weeks and the network has shared a full cast photo!
H.E.R. and Josh Groban will be playing the title characters in the special alongside a star-studded supporting cast, which includes country music superstar Shania Twain.
The two-hour animated and live-action blended special will pay tribute to the original Disney Animation’s Beauty and the Beast and its legacy by showcasing the fan-favorite movie, along with new memorable musical performances, taking viewers on a magical adventure through the eyes of Belle.
Beauty and The Beast: A 30th Celebration will air on Thursday, December 15 at 8pm on ABC and will be available the next day on Disney+.

More cast members have been announced for the upcoming Beauty and the Beast special that will air on ABC this holiday season, and this cast list is shaping up to be amazing!
Shania Twain is one of the seven cast members who have been announced for Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, which is billed as a “reimagining” of the 1991 animated movie. The special will blend animation and live-action performances. While it will be taped in front of a live audience, the special is not slated to air live.
Oscar and Grammy-winning entertainer H.E.R. was previously announced to be playing Belle. Now, more cast members have been confirmed for the special.
The special will air on Thursday, December 15 at 8/7c on ABC and will stream on Disney+ the next day.

Here’s a summary of the upcoming movie: After breaking off her engagement, leaving a successful banking career behind in the city, and moving to New Jersey for a fresh start, Asha (Sharda) couldn’t feel more alive. Her mother, on the other hand, thinks that her oldest daughter is about to miss a lifetime of happiness if she doesn’t take her focus away from her new startup job and place it on finding a husband instead.
Taking matters into her own hands, Asha’s mother creates an online dating profile in order to set Asha up with a “perfect” match. Enter Ravi (Sharma) — or rather Ravi’s parents — who have the exact same idea for their son.
Asha and Ravi’s reluctant first date is a bust, and they quickly discover that each is in a seemingly different place in their life right now. After realizing her mother is relentless and will not give up, Asha proposes a plan to Ravi that would be a win-win for both: a pretend relationship to be each other’s date to get through the upcoming wedding season.
Through countless invitations, dances and dresses in the next three months, Asha and Ravi slowly come to find that they might have more in common than they think. Maybe their parents were onto something after all.
