CW Renews All 13 Series For New Seasons Including 'Batwoman', 'Riverdale' & More

The CW had given new season orders to ALL of it’s current shows.

Batwoman and Nancy Drew have gotten their second season orders, along with veterans The Flash, Riverdale, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning and Supergirl.

All American, Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies and Roswell, New Mexico were also picked up for additional seasons on the network.

The only show left out was Katy Keene, a spinoff of Riverdale.

However, the show starring Lucy Hale, was given 13 additional scripts for it’s freshman season.

'Roswell, New Mexico' Gets a Premiere Date - See Pilot Photos!

A reboot of the classic show Roswell is coming to television next year and the premiere date was just announced!

Roswell, New Mexico is set to debut on The CW on Tuesday, January 15.

The new series revolves around the daughter (Jeanine Mason) of undocumented immigrants who, after reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush (Nathan Parsons) who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life.

She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

Roswell, New Mexico honors the magic of the original but delivers a fresh perspective, current storylines and beautiful, diverse casting. Shiri Appleby, who played Liz in the original series, will be back to direct a future episode in the first season.

Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Michael Trevino, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Trevor St. John, and Karan Oberoi also star in the new show, which was developed by Carina Adly MacKenzie.

The CW Orders Five New Series, Including 'Charmed' & 'Roswell' Reboots!

With all the cancellations being announced by the networks this week, there is room for new series to be introduced to the world and The CW just announced orders for five exciting series.

Two of the shows that fans figured would likely get orders include the reboots of classic shows Charmed and Roswell.

There are also shows starring Taye Diggs and Austin Nichols on the way, as well as one that is a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries universe.

'Roswell' Reboot Series Gets Pilot Pickup from The CW

A reboot of the fan favorite series Roswell has received a pilot order from The CW!

The pilot for the one-hour drama series with an immigration theme was written by The OriginalsCarina Adly MacKenzie.

Here is the reboot’s synopsis (via THR): “After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.”

The reboot is based on the “Roswell High” book series by Melinda Metz, which was also the inspiration for the WB series that debuted in 1999 and starred Shiri Appleby and Jason Behr.

Carina, who tweeted alien emojis to celebrate the news, recently defended reboots after Holly Marie Combs slammed the idea of a Charmed reboot.

'Roswell' Is Being Rebooted on The CW!

Roswell is making a comeback!

The TV series, which debuted in 1999 on The WB before coming to an end in 2002 and starred Shiri Appleby, Katherine Heigl, Jason Behr, Brendan Fehr, Nick Wechsler,
Majandra Delfino, and Colin Hanks, will be returning on The CW as a one-hour drama series, according to Variety.

Here’s a summary of the plot: the show follows the daughter of undocumented immigrants who reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. There she discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life.

Like the original series, the new show will be based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz. Kevin Kelly Brown, an executive producer on the original series, will return as one of the executive producers of the reboot.
