Ryan Gosling‘s performance of “I’m Just Ken” was a highlight from the 2024 Oscars earlier this week. It was also an opportunity for many of the castmates to close the chapter on Barbie after a whirlwind year.

In a recent interview, Ken actor Simu Liu revealed that an injury almost stopped him from taking the stage with Ryan and their costars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa and Scott Evans.

Thankfully, he was able to work things out. However, he explained what was going on behind the scenes.

Ryan Gosling stole the show with his incredible performance of the Barbie song “I’m Just Ken” at the 2024 Academy Awards!

The 43-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was joined by special guests to bring the song to life on Sunday (March 10) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

“I’m Just Ken” is one of the five songs nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars and all five of them were performed throughout the evening.

During the performance, Ryan was joined by four other actors who played Ken in the movie – Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, and Scott Evans. And they weren’t the only surprise guests!

The cast of Barbie experienced life in plastic while filming 2023′s hottest, Oscar-nominated blockbuster. The very pink extravaganza grossed over $1 billion in less than a month and became the top grossing movie of 2023 in North America!

It’s successes are carrying over into the new year where it’s become an awards show darling. For example, it went into the 2024 Oscars with eight nominations!

With a star-studded cast centered around Margot Robbie‘s Barbie and Ryan Gosling‘s Ken, the movie from director Greta Gerwig features a talented (and wealthy) talent pool.

In honor of the awards show, we did some digging and looked at the estimated net worth of the biggest celebrities to appear in the movie and ranked them. It’s a pretty safe bet that you’ll be surprised when you find out who claimed the top spot by a landslide!

Spoiler alert: The top earner is worth more than $1 billion.

Kingsley Ben-Adir and Simu Liu arrive on the red carpet for the 2024 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 10) at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The two actors both starred as one of the many Kens in the Oscar-nominated Best Picture, Barbie.

While Kingsley opted for a classic black tuxedo, Simu went in a bit of a different direction with a Fendi black wool suit jacket with peak lapels and asymmetrical closure paired with black straight leg trousers. He finished his look off with Christian Louboutin boots.

Joining Simu at the event was his beautiful girlfriend Allison Hsu, who looked lovely in a strapless Antonio Grimaldi white gown.

In Barbie, Kingsley and Simu took part in the “I’m Just Ken” musical number with Ryan Gosling and more, and Ryan will be performing the song during the ceremony, with a reported 65 dancers. It’s currently unknown if the other Kens will join in the performance!

The day before, Simu brought his cute pup Chopa to an event for his new movie Arthur the King.

We say that because the 34-year-old Barbie actor has been able to bring his adorable dog Chopa along with him when he attends promotional events. He and Chopa attended and influencer and press event for the movie at DOG PPL on Saturday (March 9) in Santa Monica, Calif.
