Katharine McPhee is sexy in stripes on the cover of Lucky magazine‘s February 2013 issue, on newsstands now!

Here is what the 28-year-old Smash actress had to share with the mag:

On why she’s glad she doesn’t have children: “I once thought that by now I’d have lots of children, but actually I’m really enjoying being able to go from point A to point B and the only worry I have is have my dogs been walked. I’m selfish right now, but that’s how and where I should be. The thing is, work is the thing I love the most.”

On why you won’t see her stumbling out of night clubs: “When you’re on a show like this [Smash], one that requires so much singing, you have to be really protective of you instrument. You don’t get to just, like, go out and party all night.”

On where she sees herself in five years: “In five years I’d love to have done a play and a few movies, and of course I know Smash keeps going.”

Jennifer Hudson, Katharine McPhee, and Megan Hilty take the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s Winter TV Preview, on newsstands January 4.

In the issue, the ladies talk about the upcoming revamped season of their show Smash, as well as the online criticism of Debra Messing‘s character’s scarves in season one.

“I thought it was really shocking, that it offended some people to their bone,” Debra said. “There were some virulent things written about these scarves.”

“Who knew that Debra Messing‘s scarves would become a drinking game? When I heard that, I was like, Really?” Megan joked.

FYI: The season one DVD of Smash will be hitting stores on January 8! The four-disc set features deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel, and multiple behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the series. Make sure to pick up your copy next week!

Earlier this month, Katharine donated $50,000 to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts through her McPhee Outreach foundation. Kat‘s charity has raised close to $250K and all proceeds go to The Salvation Army of Staten Island.

The series starring Katharine McPhee, Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Krysta Rodriguez, and will feature new roles from Jennifer Hudson, Jesse L. Martin, Jeremy Jordan, and Sean Hayes.

Smash returns to NBC on Tuesday (February 5) at 9-10 p.m. ET and will continue in its regular time slot on Tuesday (February 12) at 10-11 p.m. ET.

Katharine McPhee chats with co-star Krysta Rodriguez while filming Smash on Wednesday (November 14) in New York City.

The 28-year-old actress did several takes chatting with Krysta‘s character during a stroll, while their co-star Jack Davenport looked on.

Katharine recently spoke to Hollywood Life about Jennifer Hudson‘s guest appearance on the upcoming season of Smash.

“It was really fun working with her,” Katharine shared. “No one can sing quite like her. She’s incredibly focused when she’s on set. She has a great work ethic, and I really respected that. She brings a great energy to the show.”

The day before, Katharine was spotted wearing the same outfit while filming scenes with Krysta Rodriguez in downtown Manhattan.

Katharine recently shared her thoughts with Paper magazine on American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.

“I barely heard about it today and I don’t know the details. All I know is there was some yelling that was caught on tape and Nicki went off. It sounds like it could be not a good thing, but their altercation will be great press, for sure. Listen, it’s gonna make great TV. If people know that now and it’s just getting started, it’s gonna be exciting,” Katharine said.
