Leonardo DiCaprio Met with Zack Snyder for Lex Luthor Role in 'Batman v Superman'

Zack Snyder, the director of 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, just dropped a fun fact about casting for the film’s villain, Lex Luthor.

He revealed on the “Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast that he met with Leonardo DiCaprio for the role!

James Gunn's 'Superman' Movie - 12 Cast Members Confirmed!

James Gunn’s Superman just keeps on expanding!

The highly anticipated film has added yet another veteran character actor to its cast as of this week.

The movie is the first DC Studios film which is currently in production, which is part of “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” of the relaunch of the new DC Universe. Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.

There are few details about what to expect, although we do know who is in the cast so far.

We have the first photos of Maria Gabriela de Faria on set of SUPERMAN!

The 31-year-old actress was all smiles as she got hooked up to a harness while she prepared to film scenes for the new DC movie written and directed by James Gunn on Friday (March 15) in Atlanta, Georgia.

For her time on set, Maria – who is playing villain Angela Spica, aka The Engineer – was seen wearing a black leather costume.

James Gunn's 'Superman' Movie Adds Wendell Pierce

DC‘s upcoming Superman movie has just added a new cast member!

The James Gunn-directed film was formerly known as Superman: Legacy, and has already begun production. David Corenswet will play the titular hero aka Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan will portray Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult will play the villainous Lex Luthor.

On Friday (March 1), Wendell Pierce was revealed as the newest actor to join the cast of Superman!

Rachel Brosnahan Shares Video With 'Superman' Co-Stars From First Day of Filming

Rachel Brosnahan has shared a fun little video from the first day of filming the new Superman movie!

The 33-year-old actress is set to portray Lois Lane in the upcoming DCU film, and principal photography started on Thursday (February 29), which also just so happened to be Superman’s birthday.

In the video Rachel shared, she is joined by her co-stars David Corenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor).

The DC head took to social media on Thursday (February 29) to reveal that the movie, which stars David Corenswet as the iconic hero, had begun filming on a meaningful day.
