The Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards event is streaming tonight (April 22) and photos from the pre-taped event have been released!
Zendaya looked gorgeous while walking her first red carpet in over a year and Oscar nominee Andra Day also made an in-person appearance for the awards show.
Other attendees included Laverne Cox, Leslie Jones, Storm Reid, and “Me Too” founder Tarana Burke.
Zendaya and Andra are both honorees at the event alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Cynthia Erivo, and Michaela Coel. The show is being hosted by Laverne and Storm is hosting the pre-show. Leslie and Tarana are two of the evening’s presenters!

Regina King strikes a pose as she arrives at the 2019 Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards on Thursday afternoon (February 21) at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The 48-year-old Oscar-nominated actress looked super chic in a red blazer over a red, black, and white jumpsuit as she was joined at the event by her If Beale Street Could Talk co-star KiKi Layne.

Tessa Thompson made an important vow at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
While speaking at the Sundance Institute Art + Inclusion event on Friday night (January 25), the 35-year-old actress vowed to start with working more female directors in the near future.

“Because only 4% of the top 100 studio films over the last DECADE have been directed by women, #TIMESUP is initiating a challenge, the 4% challenge, and I intend to take it: I commit to working with a female director in the next 18 months,” Tessa said.
The following day, Terry Crews and Kendrick Sampson teamed up with the founder of the #MeToo movement Tarana Burke to speak during the HBO #MeToo Panel discussion.

Alyssa Milano has released a video in which she lets her 4-year-old daughter Elizabella know why she came forward about her sexual assault.
The 45-year-old Insatiable actress stepped out for the New York Women’s Foundation Radical Generosity 2018 Gala held at The Plaza Hotel on Monday (October 15) in New York City.
She paired her all-white ensemble with silver heels, a bedazzled brown clutch, and gold rings and earrings.
Alyssa was joined by civil rights activist and Me Too movement founder Tarana Burke.
Alyssa also stopped by Good Morning America that same day, which marked the one-year anniversary of the movement.
“One year ago I recorded this for my daughter, explaining why I shared my story of sexual assault,” Alyssa captioned the video below on Twitter. “I never expected to release it publicly. Now, I feel it’s too important not to share. #MeToo.”

The series, which launched on Wednesday (April 25), features a diverse array of high-profile women telling personal stories. The podcast is hosted by actor and author Diane Guerrero.
