Taylor Kinney is returning to Chicago Fire for the upcoming 12th season and we just got our first look at what he’s up to in the new episodes!

As you probably know, Taylor took a leave of absence from the NBC series at the beginning of 2023, announcing in January that he was taking a step back from the show due to personal issues.

Taylor‘s final appearance as Kelly Severide was in the episode that aired on February 22, 2023. He’ll finally return in the new episodes, slated to debut in 2024.

The show – and all the One Chicago shows – have been renewed for the 2023-2024 season on NBC, and will officially return for Season 12 on Wednesday, January 17 at 9 p.m. ET.

Chicago Fire is coming back soon, One Chicago family!

“I’m pleased to continue my four-decade relationship with Universal Television and NBC,” One Chicago creator Dick Wolf said in a statement.

While there are still very few details about the plot of Season 12, we do know who is expected to return, including one person who is leaving after the season ends.

The 42-year-old actor will be returning for Season 12 of the hit NBC series, Variety confirmed on Tuesday (October 31).

There was some question about whether Taylor would be returning after his abrupt exit from Season 11.

NBC has just revealed the details of Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer‘s future on Chicago Fire.

Fans will recall that Taylor, who plays Kelly Severide in the long-running series, took a step back from the show earlier this season.

During his absence, Jesse Spencer, who left the series last season, was brought back for a one episode appearance.

Now, the network is revealing what’s in store for the two.

An original star of Chicago Fire is returning to the show later this season!

Jesse Spencer will be back on the NBC series at the end of season 11 to fill in for fellow original star Taylor Kinney, who is taking a leave of absence from the long-running show.

The 44-year-old actor, who played Matt Casey for the first 10 seasons, left during the beginning of season 10 to focus more on his family. The character went to Oregon and committed to a three-year stint at a new job.
