Wentworth Miler Joins 'Madam Secretary' Season Six

Wentworth Miller is heading to the White House!

The 47-year-old Prison Break actor has joined the cast of Madam Secretary for season 6, TV Line reports.

As previously reported, Madam Secretary will begin after a time jump that skips over Elizabeth McCord’s (Tea Leoni) presidential campaign and election. The premiere will find the former Secretary of State about to mark her first hundred days in the Oval Office.

Wentworth will be playing Senator Mark Hanson, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committ, who hates that Elizabeth has been elected president.

The sixth and final season of Madam Secretary will premiere on Sunday, October 6th on CBS.

'Madam Secretary' Cast Previews Season 5 at Tribeca TV Fest!

Keith Carradine, Erich Bergen, Tea Leoni, Zeljko Ivanek, and Tim Daly attend the premiere of Madam Secretary season five during the 2018 Tribeca TV Festival on Thursday (September 20) at Spring Studios in New York City.

The hit CBS drama returns on October 7 and some special guests will appear in the season premiere.

Former Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell, and Madeleine Albright are all appearing as guest stars.

“There’s an act of violence that is related to that issue, and Elizabeth (Leoni) feels like [she needs to make a] speech to the country,” series creator Barbara Hall told EW about the story line of the episode. “She feels she needs some help and guidance on how to handle this situation, so she calls them to give her some advice, which is something secretaries of state do. It’s been a protocol, calling each other up.”

CBS' 'Madam Secretary' Under Fire From Philippines Government (Statement)

Tea Leoni‘s Madam Secretary is under fire from the Philippines government over an upcoming episode on CBS.

Here’s the synopsis of the episode, titled “Break In Diplomacy,” from CBS: “Elizabeth is shocked when the Philippines’ unconventional new president, Datu Andrada (Joel de la Fuente), makes a pass at her during their meeting to discuss his refusal to participate in an Asia-Pacific territory treaty.”

“While Madam Secretary is a work of fiction, it tracks and mirrors current events. It is, therefore, inevitable that its depiction of world leaders will have an impact on how its audience views the real personages and the countries they represent. This highly negative portrayal of our Head of State not only casts doubt on the respectability of the Office of the Philippine President but also denigrates that way our nation navigates foreign affairs. It also tarnishes the Philippines’ longstanding advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality,” the embassy of the Philippines said in a statement.

See photos from the episode, which is scheduled to air this Sunday.

Octavia Spencer Does Not Feel Bad About Speaking Up For Diversity in Hollywood!

Octavia Spencer is very aware of the lack of diversity in Hollywood and she’s not afraid to speak up about it!

“Since making Hidden Figures, I don’t have a problem saying to a room of male executives: ‘I need a female writer or a female director,’ or ‘I need a black voice or a Latin voice’,” the 46-year-old Oscar-winning actress recently told the New York Times. “I do not feel bad about it.”

“The big boys were big boys,” Octavia added about speaking up in meetings in the past. “They heard me and encouraged me to have a voice, always listened to my needs. We as women should always ask for what we need and might be surprised that there might not be as much resistance as we perhaps perceive.”

Octavia rocked a sophisticated ensemble to attend the 2016 UNICEF Snowflake Ball last night, Tuesday (November 29), alongside Maggie Q, Tea Leoni, Patina Miller, Brooke Burke and her hubby David Charvet, Meryl Davis, Kyle MacLachlan and his wife Desiree Gruber at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

FYI: Octavia is wearing a black tuxedo jacket and matching pants by Laura Basci. Brooke is wearing a Rubin Singer gown.
