The Middle is set to end after it’s ninth season, ABC announced (via THR).

Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn, Charlie McDermott, Eden Sher and Atticus Shaffer star in the comedy for ABC, which got an early renewal earlier this year for the final season.

No reason was given why the show will be ending, but it’s been one of the longest running primetime shows on the network along with Shonda Rhimes‘ Scandal, which will also wrap up after this season.

We were just hit with some super sad news for all of the fans out there of Malin Akerman‘s hilarious comedy series Trophy Wife – it has been canceled after just one season.

“Thank u 4 watching beloved fans. Parting is such sweet sorrow… @TrophyWifeABC cancelled just hours ago,” the show’s star Marcia Gay Harden tweeted to break the news to the fans.

In other middle of the night news, ABC has chosen to renew The Middle for a sixth season.
