The Weeknd is addressing that very awkward sex scene from episode two of The Idol.

In the episode, the 33-year-old entertainer’s character Tedros blindfolds popstar Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and instructs her to perform various sex acts.

While many viewers cringed at the scene, The Weeknd admitted that he wanted viewers to feel that way.

The Weeknd has dropped a brand new song with two big stars attached!

The 33-year-old singer and actor stars in the new HBO series The Idol and he released the song “Popular” for the show.

Madonna and Playboi Carti are both featured on the track, which you can stream right here.

“Beggin’ on your knees to be popular / That’s her dream, to be popular (Hey) / Kill anyone to be popular / Sell her soul to be popular,” The Weeknd sings in the chorus.

The Idol, also starring Lily-Rose Depp, premieres on HBO and Max on Sunday night, June 4.

In March, Rolling Stone published a bombshell article comparing the show to “torture p-rn”, divergent visions for the show causing turmoil, as well significant budgetary and timing issues.

“It’s always a little sad and disheartening to say mean false things said about someone you care about. It wasn’t reflective at all of my experience,” Lily Rose-Depp said at the press conference.
