The new thriller movie The Woman in the Window, starring Amy Adams, has been released on Netflix and there are so many twists and turns throughout the film!

The movie is based on the best-selling novel by AJ Finn and it was directed by Atonement and Darkest Hour director Joe Wright.

Here is the official synopsis: Confined by her agoraphobia, Anna Fox (Adams) finds herself keeping tabs on the new family across the street through the windows of her NYC home. After witnessing a brutal crime, secrets begin to unravel and nothing and no one are what they seem.

Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Fred Hechinger, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Julianne Moore also star in the film.

The trailer for The Woman in the Window finally debuted ahead of next month’s premiere on Netflix!

Here’s a synopsis of the movie: Anna Fox (Amy Adams) is an agoraphobic child psychologist who finds herself keeping tabs on the picture perfect family across the street through the windows of her New York City brownstone. Her life is turned upside down when she inadvertently witnesses a brutal crime. Based on the gripping, best-selling novel and adapted by Tracy Letts, shocking secrets are revealed and nothing and no one are what they seem in this suspenseful psychological thriller.

Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Fred Hechinger, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Julianne Moore also star.

The movie is set to debut on Netflix on May 14. The film has faced a few blips since it was filmed years ago, but we’re so happy to finally be seeing it soon!

Amy Adams stars in the film adaptation of the best-selling novel The Woman in the Window and the movie has been sitting on the shelf for over a year.

The film was originally supposed to hit theaters in October 2019, but after some audiences in test screenings felt the plot was too confusing, the release was delayed so that reshoots could be completed.

“There were some plot points that people found a bit confusing — I would say possibly too opaque maybe,” director Joe Wright told EW. “So we had to go back and clarify certain points, but I think also we tried to make sure we didn’t oversimplify anything and make things too clear. There’s an enjoyment in not knowing what’s going on, but at the same time, you have to give the audience something to hold on to — you have to lead them through the labyrinth of mystery and fear.”

A new release date was scheduled for May 2020, but when the pandemic hit, the theatrical release was canceled.

Now, the movie has been acquired by Netflix and EW reports that it will stream “in the first half of the year.”

The film will hit theaters on May 15, 2020. If you don’t know, the movie actually had to go through reshoots after test audiences were reportedly confused by it.

Disney obtained the movie when it bought Fox and now the studio has decided to do re-shoots after test screenings revealed that the film confused audiences, according to THR.

“We’re dealing with a complex novel,” Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler said in a statement. “We tested the movie really early for that very reason. We wanted to make it better, and we’ve had Disney’s full support in doing that.”

Director Joe Wright reportedly plans on doing five days of re-shoots in August when Amy‘s schedule clears up.

Also starring in the film are Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Brian Tyree Henry, and Wyatt Russell.

The actress was seen filming on set, as well as walking around the location, on Monday morning (October 15) in rainy New York City. The cast and crew were on location in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan that day to complete some scenes.

The Woman in the Window was originally a book that was published in early 2018 and quickly became a best-seller. Amy plays the role of Anna Fox, a woman who is unable to leave her home and spends her days spying on her neighbors. The psychological thriller takes the reader on a wild ride as she questions her sanity over what happens when some new neighbors move in.

Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie, Gary Oldman, Brian Tyree Henry, Wyatt Russell, and more also star in the film, set for release on October 4, 2019.

Anthony Mackie is in talks to join the cast of the upcoming book-to-screen adaptation of The Woman in the Window, according to Variety.

The 39-year-old actor’s character in the film has not yet been revealed, but he joins a star-studded cast that includes Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Wyatt Russell, and Brian Tree Henry.

The best-selling novel “The Woman in the Window” debuted at number one on the New York Times bestseller list earlier this year and is the best-selling adult fiction book this year so far.

Production on the film begins in the fall.
