Zachary Levi Reacts to Report That Dwayne Johnson Blocked Black Adam from Appearing in 'Shazam 2' End Credits Scene

Zachary Levi is commenting on the report that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson blocked his character Black Adam from appearing in an end credits scene for Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

In a recent interview, director David F. Sandberg confirmed that characters from Black Adam were slated to appear in the end credits scene.

“There were supposed to be characters from [Black Adam’s] Justice Society, but that fell apart three days before we were going to roll cameras,” he told THR. “So, Peter Safran, who produced this movie and Peacemaker, made some calls, and thankfully, Jen Holland and Steve Agee were able to come by on very short notice.”

TheWrap just reported that it was Dwayne himself who blocked the Black Adam actors from appearing in the scene and he reportedly also blocked Zachary from appearing in Black Adam.

On Tuesday afternoon (March 21), Zachary took to his Instagram Stories to comment on the story.

'Shazam 2' Box Office Failure - 3 Stars Weigh In & 1 DC Actor Is Being Partially Blamed!

Many people are weighing in about the performance of Shazam! Fury of the Gods at the box office, which brought in $30 million in its opening weekend, well below the original Shazam!, which opened to $53 million in 2019.

The movie also cost nearly $110 million to create, and another $100 million for marketing, meaning that it’s likely going to be a huge financial loss for DC.

Now, stars of the movie have begun speaking out to address reception to the film, and there’s a new report claiming that at least one actor may have contributed to sabotaging the film’s box office success.

'Shazam 2' Makes a Soft Landing at the Box Office - Opening Weekend Viewership Numbers Revealed

Shazam: Fury of the Gods might have debuted at No. 1 at the box office this weekend, but it fell short of expectations.

The sequel to the 2019 superhero movie debuted across 4,071 theaters, pulling in $30.5 million in its opening weekend, via Variety.

The movie was projected to bring in $35 million to $40 million. It cost roughly $110 million to make, and another $100 millions more to market.

It also came in well below the $53.5 million debut of the 2019 movie, which went on to bring in $140 million domestically and $366 million globally.

The movie isn’t faring well with critics either: it’s got a 53% score at Rotten Tomatoes.

It’s also one of the worst starts of DC Comics movies, apart from those affected by the pandemic, including Wonder Woman 1984 ($16.7 million) and The Suicide Squad ($26 million), which both opened simultaneously on HBO Max.

It brought in $35 million from 77 markets globally, making its overall haul so far $65.5 million.
