Ryan Gosling hit the red carpet ahead of receiving his big award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

At the event on Saturday (January 13), the 43-year-old actor was honored with the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film.

Prior to the ceremony, Ryan reunited with Barbie director Greta Gerwig! The two stars were all smiles as they posed for some photos together.

Steve Carell, who is not pictured here, was also present to support Ryan.

Greta and Steve both served as special guest speakers.

If you didn’t know, Steve and Ryan co-starred in 2011′s Crazy, Stupid, Love.

During his acceptance speech, Ryan reflected on his achievement, referencing his highly-acclaimed performance as Ken in Barbie.

“It’s hard to imagine being at a point in my career where I’m standing up here tonight,” he said. “It’s just that it’s Kirk Douglas. He’s one of the first true icons of cinema… he is completely and utterly in the class of his own, and I’m… just Ken?”

There were so many stars in attendance at the 2024 AFI Awards Luncheon, celebrating the best movies and television shows of 2023.

The casts of Barbie, The Last of Us, and more were all there to honor their projects on Friday afternoon (January 12) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The AFI Awards honorees include 10 outstanding motion pictures and 10 outstanding TV programs deemed culturally and artistically representative of this year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image.

Stars like Meryl Streep, Selena Gomez, Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, and many more all attended the event this year.

“As our nation and our world continue to navigate difficult times, AFI is honored to shine a proper light upon these works of art that lift us up and, ultimately, lead us to empathy,” said Bob Gazzale, AFI President and CEO. “That we do so without competition is AFI’s hallmark, and we are proud to gather this community of artists together – as one – to celebrate their extraordinary contributions to our time.”

The 33-year-old Barbie actress and producer opened up about the blockbuster, which wound up becoming the biggest hit of 2023.

In the process, she revealed the surprising comedy franchise that inspired the tone of the movie and the actress that she originally wanted to see in the lead role.

When the conversation turned to the future, Margot had an update on the Ocean’s Elven movie she is set to star in. She also hinted at something else she wants to do still.

Margot even explained why it might be a while before we see her on the big screen again!

The 2024 Governors Awards brought out so many stars for the big event!

Stars including Margot Robbie, Florence Pugh, Leonardo DiCaprio, Zac Efron, and hit the red carpet at the 14th annual event on Tuesday evening (January 9) held at The Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, Calif.

During this year’s Governors Awards, Angela Bassett, filmmaker Mel Brooks, Sundance Institute’s Michelle Satter, and editor Carol Littleton will all be awarded honorary Oscars for their contributions to the film industry.
