30 Famous Actors Who Starred on Soap Operas (So Many Oscar Winners & Nominees Are On The List!)

Soap operas are renowned for their drama and constantly twisting stories. But did you know that they are also a breeding ground for some of Hollywood’s biggest stars?

So many A-list actors have brought characters to life on some of the most beloved sudsers over the years.

For many of them, it was near the start of their career. Some of them made history in their role on the soap opera – like the actor who played the first openly gay teen on daytime TV. All of them have gone on to find incredible success in blockbusters.

We did some digging ahead of the Oscars and were able to round up 30 examples of famed actors who have starred on soap operas. It turns out that quite a few Oscar winners and nominees owe a soap opera for the start of their career.

The Cast of 'Mean Girls' Almost Looked So Different! See Who Auditioned & For What Roles Before Everything Was Finalized

Mean Girls remains one of the most iconic teen movies, and that’s partly down to the all-around perfect casting choices that were made behind the scenes. Can you even imagine what it would have been like if the lineup of talent had been different!?

Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfied and Lacey Chabert grounded the movie as members of The Plastics – teen royalty of North Shore High School.

They were joined by other talented young actors such as Jonathan Bennett, Daniel Franzese and Lizzy Caplan alongside comedy legends Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

In 2024, the cast is forever associated with the characters that they played in the movie. However, Mean Girls almost looked very different.

For starters, all three members of The Plastics auditioned for other parts in the movie before they were finally cast. Several other actresses were also in the running for parts, and an A-list actor was considered for Jonathan‘s character Aaron Samuels.

There was also a rumor linking a Marvel superstar to the movie, that we finally got an answer to years later.

One of the actors who was in the running recently recalled their audition, and we decided to round up what we knew about the movie’s casting process.

Tina Fey Reveals the Reason Why the Original Stars of 'Mean Girls' Didn't Participate in the Musical Movie

Tina Fey is explaining why the 2004 Mean Girls cast didn’t reunite for the new musical movie.

During an interview with The New York Times, the 53-year-old actress and writer shared that there were efforts to get the original stars involved, but it didn’t work out.

She also discussed the possibility of a Mean Girls sequel with Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert.
