YouTuber Eugene Lee Yang Comes Out as Gay in Powerful Video
Eugene Lee Yang has come out as gay in a deeply personal new music video.
The 33-year-old YouTube star and filmmaker – known for his work with BuzzFeed and The Try Guys – came out to fans in the powerful visual titled “I’m Gay,” which The Try Guys dropped on Saturday (June 15).
The five-minute video – written, directed, and choreographed by Eugene – features contemporary dancing and music by ODESZA.
“I created this music video as my personal way of coming out as a proud gay man who has many unheard, specific stories to tell,” Eugene tweeted. “I withheld because of fear and shame shaped by my background but I promise to give my full truth in the rest of my life’s work.🏳️🌈.”
“The music featured is by the incredible @odesza,” Eugene Lee Yang added. “I’ve also created a fundraiser for the @TrevorProject to help save LGBTQ+ lives. Coming out is a lifelong process – your safety always comes first – but know that there’s a vibrant community waiting to welcome you with open arms.”
“For the LGBTQIA+ community,” the video reads at the end.
ICYMI, YouTuber and BBC host Dan Howell also came out as gay this week.
