Kerry Washington Says She & Co-Star Reese Witherspoon Are 'Not Supposed to Be Friends' - Here's Why

Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon co-star in Hulu’s upcoming show Little Fires Everywhere. However, during a recent interview, Kerry revealed that the pair are not “supposed to be friends.”

“In the real world, Reese and I are not supposed to be friends. I grew up in the Bronx a block away from the projects, and she grew up in Nashville, Tennessee,” Kerry told Variety. The publication reports that despite that, “the two managed to bridge the gap through their shared passion for important work.”

About Kerry‘s role in the project, Reese added, “I really liked the idea of Kerry playing Mia after Olivia Pope. Knowing Kerry and her range, I was excited to see her play someone 180 degrees different.”

According to Deadline, Little Fires Everywhere follows the intertwined fates of the picture-perfect Richardson family and an enigmatic mother and daughter who upend their lives. The story explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster.

The show will premiere on March 18. Find out how much money Kerry and Reese are making per episode on the show – the number is huge!
