Taraji P. Henson Cries While Recalling Telling Her Son How His Father Died

Taraji P. Henson is opening up about the moment she had to tell her son how his father died in the newest episode of her Facebook Watch series, Peace of Mind with Taraji.

The actress spoke with Tracie Jade Jenkins and therapist Sierra Hillsman about the difficult situation she endured on how to tell her now 26-year-old son, Marcell Johnson, how his father died when he was only nine.

“My son’s father was suddenly taken — murdered — when he was 9, and I didn’t know how to tell him that,” she shared. “I couldn’t tell him he was murdered, so I told him he died in an accident.”

Taraji adds that telling him that his dad died in an accident came back to haunt her.

“Later on in life he found out and he came back to me and was like, ‘Why didn’t you tell me my daddy was murdered?’ And so then we had to get therapy,” Taraji shared.

After Taraji‘s recollection, Sierra then offered advice to her and viewers on how to handle difficult situations like this.
