George Michael's Estate Responds To Similarities of His 'Freedom' to Lorde's 'Solar Power'

Many music fans noticed a striking similarity of Lorde‘s new song “Solar Power”, to George Michael‘s “Freedom! ’90″.

After the 24-year-old singer dropped her song, Twitter users pointed out how the two songs sounded the same, especially in the chorus.

“I’m not going to sit here and be quiet about the fact that Lorde’s new ‘Solar Power’ song’s chorus has the EXACT same chords as George Michael’s ‘Freedom’ – it’s so blatant,” one fan pointed out.

Now, the late singer’s estate has issued a statement on the matter.

His team did acknowledge the fact that both of the tracks sound very similar, however, they also gave their stamp of approval to Lorde‘s “Solar Power”.

“We are aware that many people are making a connection between Freedom ’90 by George Michael and Solar Power by @lorde which George would have been flattered to hear, so on behalf of one great artist to another, we wish her every success with the single,” they stated on Twitter.
