Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2020 Performers & Celebrity Guest Lineup Revealed!

The 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is going to look a little bit different today than it has looked in past years.

This year, the parade organizers had to work with the city of New York and the police department to cordon off streets to be able to showcase the parade floats. In normal times, fans would line the streets to watch the parade, however, this year, we are not able to do that due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Some performances will be live and others have been pre-taped. Some of the floats will also be live but some have been previously recorded. Another big change this year is that there will be no high school marching bands included for safety reasons as to not expose anyone under the age of 18.

Macy's Announces First Round of Thanksgiving Day Parade 2020 Performers!

The first round of performers and celeb guests have been announced for the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

The iconic parade is still happening later this month on Thursday, November 26th, but things are going to be a lot different because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Only a few select Broadway shows will be performing this year, however, the performances will be recorded ahead of time and will air during the show.

Everyone involved in the performances will be tested COVID and will be required to wear masks while on the set, but singers will be allowed to remove their masks in order to perform, The New York Times reports.

Also, instead of the two and a half mile-long route, the parade will march for just one city block down 34th Street in New York City and will do so without a crowd.

Similarly, the character balloons will not be flown with handlers, but will instead be pulled along by special vehicles.

The 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be available on both NBC’s TV channel and website.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Will Go Virtual in 2020 Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

It looks like the holidays in 2020 might look a little different from previous years. The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will go virtual in 2020 amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the news about the parade that has been going on for nearly 100 years.

The parade will not be “a live parade, but something that will really give us that warmth and that great feeling we have on Thanksgiving day.”

“It will not be the same parade we’re used to,” the mayor added. “It will be a different kind of event. They’re reinventing the event for this moment in history.”

The event will be available on both television and online.
