Sacha Baron Cohen Revives Borat To Slam Kanye West

Yekshemesh, Borat is back!

Sacha Baron Cohen revived his Kazakh television journalist character for the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. on Sunday (December 4).

“Before I proceed, I will say I am very upset about the antisemitism in US and A,” he said as Borat. “It not fair. Kazakhstan is No. 1 Jew-crushing nation. Stop stealing our hobby. Stop the steal! Stop the steal!”

“Your Kayne. He tried to move to Kazakhstan and even tried to change his name to Kazakhstan-ye West. But we said no. He’s too anti-semitic even for us.”

Borat himself is known for his jokes making fun of Jewish people.

Sacha Baron Cohen, who is Jewish, had previously stated that he would never bring Borat back again.

Borat also set his sights on former president Donald Trump.

Borat said, “I’m told president of U.S. and A. is here. Where are you, Mr. Trump?”
As he looked at president Joe Biden, he said, “You don’t look so good! Where has your glorious big belly gone and your pretty orange skin? I see you have a new wife. Wah-wah-wee-wah!”

George Clooney attended the Kennedy Center Honors with his wife Amal, and was honored alongside musicians Amy Grant, Gladys Knight, U2 and American composer, conductor and educator Tania León.

Sacha Baron Cohen Will Never Play Borat Again - Find Out Why He's Quitting the Role

Sacha Baron Cohen is done playing his famous role, Borat Sagdiyev.

The 49-year-old actor – who is nominated for a 2021 Golden Globes for his work in Borat Subsequent Movie Film – revealed the reason why he’ll be stepping away from the role and not pursuing a third movie in the franchise.

“It got too dangerous,” he told ET. “There were a couple of times I had to put on a bulletproof vest to go and shoot a scene, and you don’t want to do that too many times in your life. I was pretty lucky to get out this time, so no, I’m not doing it again. I’m going to stay with the scripted stuff.”

He continued, “The night before something like that — that rally — you’re trying to go through everything that can go wrong. In a normal scene like what we’re doing, we’re trying to make sure, ‘How do I make sure my performance is real? Have I done my research? How do I make sure the accent’s perfect?’ In this one you’re going, ‘OK, if a bunch of guys with guns come from that side of the stage, have I got a way to get out? What happens if someone shoots me? What if a bunch of people start shooting me?’”

Find out how Sacha could be very lucky this upcoming weekend at the Golden Globes!

Sacha Baron Cohen Explains Why He Felt Obligated to Revive Borat

Sacha Baron Cohen is talking about playing Borat again 14 years after he first introduced the character.

In a new profile with Variety, the 49-year-old actor spoke about making Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and how he felt obligated to revive the character in order to shed light on the dangers he saw threatening democracy.

“I felt democracy was in peril, I felt people’s lives were in peril and I felt compelled to finish the movie,” Sacha shared.

Despite COVID-19 and pushback from the movie’s producer and co-writer, Sacha was determined to finish the movie after seeing how President Trump went about handling the the pandemic.

“The movie was originally about the danger of Trump and Trumpism,” Sacha explained. “What coronavirus demonstrated was that there’s a lethal effect to his spreading of lies and conspiracy theories.”

He continued: “Rather than run away from how the world was dealing with coronavirus, I felt we should lean into it. Borat is a fake character, played by me, in a real world. … If we got people to take their masks off, it would be a fake character in a fake world, in a manipulated world, so the basis of the comedy wouldn’t work.”

During another interview, Sacha reflected on a scary experience while dressed up in costume as Trump.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video now.

Borat's Maria Bakalova Reveals Her Opinion Of That Controversial Rudy Giuliani Scene

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm breakout star Maria Bakalova is speaking out about that infamous scene.

The 24-year-old actress plays Borat’s (Sacha Baron Cohen) 15-year-old daughter, Tutar, and she winds up interviewing the former New York City major and current Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

During the infamous scene, he asks for her name and address, and the camera captures Maria reaching into his shirt to retrieve his microphone as he gives her a pat on the back. When she turns away, Rudy lies down on the bed and reaches into his pants.

“Sacha jumped into the room quickly, because he’s been worried about me,” the 24-year-old Bulgarian actress told the New York Times. “So, if he were late, I don’t know how things were going to go. But he came just in time.”

She added, “I saw everything that you saw. If you saw the movie, that’s our message. We want everybody to see the movie and judge for themselves.”

“Yeah. I was nervous,” she continued. “My heart was racing. But Sacha was like, you should be nervous in this situation. So use your nerves. Convert them and accept them and they’re going to help you through everything.”

“I was kind of scared that something would happen. But fortunately, we escaped,” Maria added. “We’d been talking a lot about different scenarios. How should I act, this way or this way? What should I do? What is smarter? But in all of the scenarios, I was confident that Sacha will save me and he will save the scene, so it’s not going to be a disaster. He’s my guardian angel.”

Sacha Baron Cohen Donates $100,000 to 'Borat 2' Babysitter's Community in Oklahoma

Sacha Baron Cohen has made a large donation to the Oklahoma City community of Jeanise Jones, the woman who was Tutar’s babysitter in the new movie Borat 2.

A GoFundMe page was launched for Jones by her pastor after her story went viral. She actually thought the whole situation was real until the movie was released and believed she was participating in a documentary about child brides at the time.

Over $155,000 has been raised for Jones and now the additional $100,000 donation will be distributed to her community by Pastor Derrick Scobey.

“I was blown away but not surprised because I was told about what type of heart this man has,” Scobey told People of the donation. “Maybe it’s a little risqué, some of the things in the movie, but he has a good heart.”

Jones has been busy this week helping people in the community affected by a big storm.

“While all these people around the world are loving how she’s the moral compass of the movie, she’s sitting here serving people in the dark and in the cold,” Scobey said. “This is who we are. This is what we do for our community, and we love our community.”

Maria Bakalova was introduced to the world with her role as Tutar, the daughter of Borat, in the new movie Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and now she’s getting Oscars buzz!

Sacha Baron Cohen, who played the title character in the new movie, is commenting on the possibility of Maria getting an Oscar nomination and how she’s such a special actress.

“She’s an incredible actor,” Sacha said (via IndieWire). “We interviewed 600 young women from all around the world and she’s hilarious. She is one of the most courageous actors in history. If she doesn’t get nominated for an Oscar then that’s a travesty.”

He added, “She’s hilarious and has the capacity to deliver a scene and make you cry. That’s what finally got her the part. When we did the breakup scene in the movie, I had to stop it because I felt myself getting quite emotional. She’s one of a kind. Imagine coming to America for the first time and you’re playing a role with real people in some terrifying situations. She got through it all. She’s a revelation.”
