Rachel Bloom Talks 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Series Finale

Rachel Bloom shares a sweet moment on stage with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna at The CW’s portion of the 2018 Summer TCA Press Tour on Monday (August 6) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The ladies were joined at the panel by cast members Scott Michael Foster, Donna Lynne Champlin, Vella Lovell, Gabrielle Ruiz, and Pete Gardner.

Rachel opened up at the panel about the show’s upcoming series finale, which is at the end of season four. The finale is just how she and Aline envisioned it to be when the show was pitched to other networks.

“Every season was a different lens of what it meant to be a crazy ex from the inside out,” Rachel said. “There are network executives around town that know how our series ends if they remember or care — because they passed.”

An original character, who hasn’t been seen since season two, will also be recast for the upcoming fourth and final season!

'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Role Recast with Skylar Astin for Season 4

The fourth and final season of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will welcome back one of the series’ original characters, though a new actor will step into the role.

Greg, originally played by Santino Fontana, is returning with Pitch Perfect‘s Skylar Astin in the role.

Santino asked to be let go from the show and his final appearance was in the beginning of season two in 2016.

“When he decided that this show didn’t work for his schedule, we took that Greg storyline and moved it all up,” co-creator and showrunner Aline Brosh McKenna said (via THR). “In thinking about bringing him back, we reached out to let him know we were doing that.”

“We don’t want to spoil it too much,” co-creator and star Rachel Bloom added. “It will be a great statement on how our perception of people changes. Greg is a barometer of how people’s perceptions changes. It’ll have been two years since Rebecca’s seen him.”

Rachel says that the series will end the same way she envisioned it when she developed it at Showtime.

Rachel Bloom is opening up about her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend salary!

The 30-year-old actress who stars on the hit CW show shared with Wealthsimple that she takes home roughly $50,000-$60,000 per episode – but isn’t totally sure.

“I make about $50,000 or $60,000 for acting in an episode before taxes and paying my reps,” Rachel shared. “I know it’s absurd that I don’t know the exact figure, but it’s because all of it comes in bulk and goes directly to a business manager.”

Rachel also revealed in the interview that she has to buy the majority of her red carpet outfits unlike many of the stars who get outfits loaned to the by designers.

“A lot of fashion houses are reluctant to lend clothes that aren’t in the sample sizes of 0 and 2, so it’s getting harder and harder for me to find clothes without buying them,” Rachel said. “That’s the whole problem with the fashion industry: My body size is literally normal and healthy, but when you put me next to a model, I look obese.”
