James Gunn's 'Superman' Movie - 12 Cast Members Confirmed!

James Gunn’s Superman just keeps on expanding!

The highly anticipated film has added yet another veteran character actor to its cast as of this week.

The movie is the first DC Studios film which is currently in production, which is part of “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” of the relaunch of the new DC Universe. Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.

There are few details about what to expect, although we do know who is in the cast so far.

3 Actresses Auditioned for Wonder Woman Before Gal Gadot (Including 1 Who Said She 'Never' Had a Chance)

Gal Gadot‘s portrayal of Wonder Woman made her the leading lady of the DCEU, but she faced some stiff competition to book the part.

The actress joined the DC Comics franchise alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill and was lauded as one of the brightest lights for her portrayal of Diana Prince in 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Since then, Gal has yielded the Lasso of Truth and Diana’s iconic gauntlets in several projects, including two solo movies. There have been ongoing questions about her future in the franchise, which will reset with the release of Superman: Legacy.

A new star has been cast to bring Supergirl to life, adding to questions about the status of Wonder Woman.

She’s synonymous with the character, but Gal had to audition for it alongside several other stars.

In fact, we can say for a fact that she faced off against at least three actresses to land the part. Of them, two opened up about their experience auditioning. One of them even explained why they knew that they “never” had a chance to land it.

With there being so much interest in Gal‘s future in the franchise, we decided to do some research into who else might have been wielding the Lasso of Truth.

Milly Alcock Lands 'Supergirl' Role, Plans Revealed for Upcoming DC Projects

Milly Alcock has landed the coveted role of Supergirl in the new DC Universe!

The 23-year-old Aussie actress is best known for playing young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon, but she’s not expected to return after the role was aged up.

Milly will play Kara Zor-El in the upcoming movie Superman: Legacy, which begins production in March. More plans for the character were already revealed!
