As such, it’s not surprising that Daniel was one of the first Harry Potter stars to pay tribute to Michael after we learned that he passed away at the age of 82 last week. He had more to say during an appearance at Variety’s Business of Broadway Breakfast on Monday (October 2).

More specifically, Daniel looked back on the types of conversations that he had with Michael. Interestingly, they were different in a key way from the sort that their characters had.

One Actor Auditioned to Play Harry Potter & Twilight's Edward But Got Different Roles in Both Franchises

Harry Potter and Twilight were star-making experiences for Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson. Both blockbusters also signify near misses for one actor who auditioned for the chance to play Harry Potter and Edward Cullen.

Daniel was only 11 years old when he portrayed the beloved boy wizard alongside Emma Watson and Rupert Grint in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in 2000.

The franchises featured large and talented casts, and there’s a common thread between them – an actor who landed supporting roles in both after auditioning for the lead. He opened up about the experience in an interview.
