Salman Rushdie is returning to the spotlight for the first time in nine months, when he was stabbed on stage at an event.

The 75-year-old novelist made an appearance at the 2023 PEN America Literary Gala on Thursday night (May 18) at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Salman was joined on the red carpet by his wife Rachel Eliza Griffiths.

More celebs in attendance included Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria, Sex in the City author Candace Bushnell, Emily Ratajkowski, comedian John Mulaney, and SNL‘s Colin Jost, Fred Armisen, and Lorne Michaels.

“I feel great,” Salman said at the event (via the New York Daily News). “I have a long association with PEN America and I’m just happy to be amongst writers and book people.”

Hilaria Baldwin appears to be sending a message after husband Alec Baldwin is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The 39-year-old author and yoga instructor wore a green sweatshirt that had “EMPATHY” written across it as she arrived back at her apartment after a workout on Friday morning (January 20) in New York City.

The day before, Alec, 64, was charged with 2 counts of involuntary manslaughter in the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Halyna was shot and killed on set with a prop gun fired by Alec while filming their movie Rust in October 2021.

Shortly after the Alec was charged, his lawyer released a statement.

Late last year, Hilaria revealed how her and Alec‘s two eldest kids reacted when they found out about the incident.

Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin are already raising seven children, but the busy mom isn’t totally ready to rule out having more.

The 38-year-old welcomed their seventh child – a daughter named Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin – in September. She joined siblings Carmen, 9, Rafael, 7, Leonardo, 6, Romeo, 4, Eduardo, 2, and Lucia, 1. The kids also have a half-sibling in Ireland, whom Alec shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

However, Hilaria teased that their family might continue to expand during a recent interview.
