Christina Ricci has received a domestic violence restraining order against her estranged husband James Heerdegen.
Under the restraining order, James must stay 100 yards away from the 40-year-old actress and will not be allowed to visit with their 6-year-old son Freddie, People reports. He must also stay away from the family’s dog.
Christina filed for the restraining order on Tuesday (January 19), alleging that she was physically abused by James. In the filing, Christina says she was subjected to “severe physical and emotional abuse” by James with “many of these acts of abuse” taking place in front of their son.
Christina claims the abuse started in 2013 when she first found out she was pregnant. She alleges that James has threatened to “kill” her on multiple occasions.
She also alleges that he “brutally attacked” her on December 19, 2019. Months later when the quarantine began, Christina says she found herself “stuck in the house with a man who had physically and emotionally abused me, and knew that I wanted to end the marriage.”
Throughout the pandemic, Christina claims James allegedly “focused solely on punishing and terrorizing me 24 hours a day,” adding, “I was afraid to sleep at night.”
Back on June 2, Christina alleges that James “chased me through and out of the house” while she was trying to call 911.
“He grabbed my wrists and hands, dragged me, and slammed my body into the fire pit we have in the yard,” Christina wrote in her filing. “I suffered cuts, bruising, and soreness of my hip, which still causes me pain today.”
Several weeks later, Christina claims James chased her around the house again “all morning, screaming at me, spitting on me, throwing coffee at me, and throwing a chair at me” all while in the presence of their son Freddie.
At that time, Christina was granted an emergency protective order against James.
Also in her filing, Christina alleges that she fears for her son’s safety as James allegedly “continues to threaten to abduct” Freddie.
In a statement to TMZ, James‘ attorney says he “unequivocally denies all allegations of abuse made by Ms. Ricci as having occurred in 2020.”
Christina and James first married in 2013. She filed for divorce back in July 2020.
