Good Times is back in a new way.

The animated Netflix reboot of the ’70s sitcom, which featured TV’s first Black two-parent family, promises to “drop the laugh track and deal with modern-day issues, retaining the feeling of the original Good Times,” per the network.

“It’s about a Black family that comes together, laughs together, and survives the system on the South Side of Chicago. What you’ll get from that is a lot of social commentary, a lot of pushing the boundaries, a lot of feel-good television, but also a lot of things that may be in the vein of The Simpsons and South Park and Family Guy. When you’re looking back 10 years later, you’ll be like, ‘They said that on Good Times?’ Oh my gosh,’” says showrunner Ranada Shepard.

The animated series premieres Friday (April 12), and features a lot of big names in the voice cast.

So many celebrities hit the runway for the 2023 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards on Thursday evening (March 9) in Los Angeles.

Marsai Martin is on the mend.

The 18-year-old actress, who is best known for Little and black-ish, revealed to fans on Instagram that she recently underwent surgery to remove an ovarian cyst.

The stars are stepping out for the 2022 Wearable Art Gala!

Kelly Rowland, Quinta Brunson, and Issa Rae joined tons of other stars at the event hosted by Tina Knowles-Lawson and Richard Lawson on Saturday evening (October 22) at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The theme for this year’s big event was “Harlem Nights,” and all of the guests celebrated the fashions of the 1920s-50s.

Keke Palmer served as emcee for the evening, which honored Angela Bassett and visual artist Mark Bradford. During the event, Chloe X Halle and Andra Day took to the stage for performances.

Mary J. Blige, Idris Elba, and Janelle Monae were among the many stars that walked the red carpet at the awards show held on Sunday night (June 26) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The stars are stepping out for a big NASCAR pre-season event!

Ashton Kutcher waved a flag on stage to promote bioethanol while attending NASCAR’s Busch Light Clash on Sunday afternoon (February 6) at the L.A. Coliseum in Los Angeles.

Other stars in attendance included Caitlyn Jenner, Miles Teller, Pitch Perfect actor Skylar Astin, black-ish actress Marsai Martin, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell, former pro football player Reggie Bush, and Bones actor David Boreanaz.

During the event, Pitbull and Ice Cube took to the stage for performances while Ally Brooke performed the National Anthem.
