Grant Gustin is officially a Broadway star!

The 34-year-old The Flash and Glee actor celebrated the opening night of his new musical Water for Elephants on Thursday (March 21) at the Imperial Theatre in New York City.

Grant was joined on the red carpet by his co-stars Isabelle McCalla, Gregg Edelman, Paul Alexander Nolan, Joe De Paul, Sara Gettelfinger, Stan Brown, and Wade McCollum.

Grant is playing the role of Jacob Jankowski in the stage adaptation of the beloved novel by Sara Gruen. Robert Pattinson played the role in the film adaptation back in 2011.

Here’s the synopsis: After losing what matters most, a young man jumps a moving train unsure of where the road will take him and finds a new home with the remarkable crew of a traveling circus, and a life—and love—beyond his wildest dreams. Seen through the eyes of his older self, his adventure becomes a poignant reminder that if you choose the ride, life can begin again at any age.

The 34-year-old actor, who is currently expecting his second child, is playing the role of Jacob Jankowski in the stage adaptation of the beloved novel by Sara Gruen. Robert Pattinson played the role in the film adaptation back in 2011.

The acclaimed play Slave Play is heading to Broadway for a limited engagement this fall and the official casting was just announced.

Seven out of the eight lead cast members from the off-Broadway production – Ato Blankson-Wood, James Cusati-Moyer, Sullivan Jones, Chalia La Tour, Irene Sofia Lucio, Annie McNamara, and Paul Alexander Nolan – will reprise their roles for the Broadway transfer.

Joaquina Kalukango will create the role of Kaneisha for the Broadway production. Teyonah Parris played the role in the off-Broadway run, but she’ll be busy working on her upcoming Marvel series WandaVision.

Jeremy O. Harris wrote the play and garnered tons of acclaim during its off-Broadway run. Here is the full synopsis: “The Old South lives on at the MacGregor Plantation — in the breeze, in the cotton fields…and in the crack of the whip. It’s an antebellum fever-dream, where fear and desire entwine in the looming shadow of the Master’s House. Jim trembles as Kaneisha handles melons in the cottage, Alana perspires in time with the plucking of Phillip’s fiddle in the boudoir, while Dustin cowers at the heel of Gary’s big, black boot in the barn. Nothing is as it seems, and yet everything is as it seems.”

Slave Play begins previews on September 10 ahead of an official opening night on October 6. The production will run for just 17 weeks.

Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche are front and center during the curtain call following the one night only benefit reading of Twentieth Century on Monday (April 29) at Studio 54 in New York City.

The actors – along with Dan Butler, Stephen DeRosa, and Julie Halston – reunited 15 years after performing the show on Broadway for a special reading of the classic play for Roundabout Theatre Company.

The actors who rounded out the cast included Henry Winkler, Paul Alexander Nolan, Richard Kind, Nick Choksi, Holley Fain, Michael Mulheren, Raji Ahsan, Franklin Bongjio, Daniel Fredrick, and Evan Powell.

If you didn’t know, the play inspired the musical On The Twentieth Century, which was revived on Broadway in 2015 with Kristin Chenoweth.

The 31-year-old actress, best known for Mad Men and Survivor’s Remorse, was joined at the event by co-star Paul Alexander Nolan, among others.

The new play by Jeremy O. Harris “rips apart history to shed new light on the nexus of race, gender and sexuality in 21st century America.” The play has been receiving some rave reviews and everyone says to not read anything about it before seeing the show, so we’re going to leave it at that!

Slave Play is running now through January 13 at the New York Theatre Workshop.

Among the night’s big winners were the musical KPOP, which took home three awards including Outstanding Musical, and School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play and the Pulitzer-winning Cost of Living, which earned two wins each, including a tie for Outstanding Play.
