YouTuber Connor Franta Shares Advice for Coming Out of the Closet

Connor Franta gives the camera a smoldering look in this new black-and-white shot for RAW.

Here’s what the 25-year-old YouTube star had to share with the mag:

On how he found his own aesthetic: “Trial and error. Just try things and figure out what works for you personally. Also, I’ve also been doing this for seven years, so it takes time (laughs). It just comes with time and practice.”

On the moment he realized social media was blowing up: “It was probably right after the first VidCon I went to. It was absolutely insane. I went as a fan, but I was also getting recognized a little bit for making YouTube videos too, so it just started to become more and more real because I was meeting people in the same industry and I had people wanting to meet me for doing something that I had admired for so long. So that was kind of like the first moment—that first ‘oh s–t’ moment.”

On his advice for anyone who’s afraid to come out of the closet: “Take your time. It’s very, very situational, so make sure you’re in a safe environment and make sure the time is right for you. Don’t let anyone pressure you into coming into yourself too early, that is a personal decision. So know that it will happen eventually, it will happen in your own time, and everything will be okay.”

Froy Gutierrez Reveals His Favorite 'Teen Wolf' Scene to Film

Froy Gutierrez gives the camera a sultry stare during his brand-new shoot for RAW!

Here’s what the 20-year-old Teen Wolf actor had to share with the mag:

On being half-Mexican and his best memories of Mexico: “I spent all my summers there until I was 12 and I spent the majority of my first five years of my life there. So I have lots of memories, mainly with my cousins because they live there. I just remember living in my grandpa’s house and we would just throw around avocados in the backyard with our feet, like soccer, but not really because we didn’t know what soccer was at the time… because we were 5-years-old. (laughs) But I’m probably like the only millennial who doesn’t like avocados. (laughs)”

On his favorite Teen Wolf scene to film: “I had so many! Particularly toward the end of Teen Wolf because we did this giant action scene, I got to have this James Bond moment where I was just this dorky little white boy walking down the hallway. I just felt like such a badass for a second.”

On what he does to get out of dark places: “(breathes in deeply) The best thing you can do is just have someone to talk to. You’re always surrounded by people that love you even though you don’t think that you are, even when you feel very alone. There’s people that you can talk to and there’s always someone you can get your emotions out with. That’s just important to remember–you’re never alone. There’s always someone there. And just think talking, exercising, listening to music, finding hobbies that you’re passionate about are all super important to get through a dark phase in your life. I always think about all those things and really take it to heart and just… find someone to talk to. Too often, we have emotions and problems that we just bottle up and put a lid on it and I don’t think that’s very healthy. You gotta let it out! Everyone has problems, you’re never alone. That’s my motto.”

Noah Schnapp Wasn't Too Happy With His 'Stranger Things' Audition!

Noah Schnapp wasn’t exactly convinced that he landed the role of Stranger Things‘ Will Byers after his audition!

The 13-year-old actor opened up during his new feature for our online magazine RAW. Here’s what he had to say:

On his early acting days and auditioning for the hit Netflix series: “I remember going into the city four times a week for like Chase Bank and McDonald’s commercials. Then I started getting movie auditions, and I remember my first movie was with [Steven] Spielberg and Tom Hanks, which was pretty cool. They taught me all the basics and I just kept going.”

“I remember auditioning for Stranger Things–it was called Montauk when we did it–and I had a horrible headache. It was raining, I was all wet and my ankles were full of mud. I got there and I was so tired. ‘Ugh, please let this be over with,’ I thought and then I got home and I was like, ‘Oh that wasn’t that good. I should’ve done better.’ Then I got a callback and it ended up being my first T.V. show.”

On his first impression of Stranger Things after reading the script: “I just remember reading it and it was just kind of this idea. No one ever thought it was going to do really well and become a big show. It was just like, ‘Okay, we’ll do this. It’ll be a one season thing and few people will watch it.’ Because there weren’t any billboards or advertising!”
