Sarah Michelle Gellar Raves About Broadway's 'The Prom'

Sarah Michelle Gellar is currently doing a Broadway marathon in New York City and she’s raving about one of the shows she saw.

The 42-year-old actress first saw Beetlejuice and then saw The Prom, which she said wasn’t one of her top choices.

“So, full disclosure, @theprommusical wasn’t necessarily on my list to see. My daughter saw the performance on the @thetonyawards and was adamant we see it,” SMG wrote on Instagram.

She added, “Boy am I glad, because I was blown away. It’s truly an important show. Thank you, truly, to the cast of the Prom. I cried hard, but I also laughed hard. And my daughter walked away understanding that she has a voice, capable of making great change. Acceptance, selflessness, compassion, all themes we can always use more of. And on top of all that, the song ‘we look to you’ perfectly encompasses every reason I love Broadway. Please see this show.”

The Prom closes on Broadway on August 11, so make sure to go see it now. The musical is also being turned into a movie for Netflix with a star-studded cast.
